Event brings back the past with the 20/20BAS V3!

20/20BAS from Event on Vimeo.

So my second pair of studio monitors when I started producing were Event TR8 XL's. They were released after the 20/20's. They were solid and rocked. My boys had the 20/20's so I was glad to have something that was close. I did like them and had them for a while so if you had to start with a pair of monitors I could endorse, I would say these will do! Event makes Rock Solid Monitors! They will set you back $899 for a pair, but for some thing that's above entry level, and can compete with some of the elite monitors, its money well spent! The last picture shows the difference between the original model and the new one. For more info click Here! EventElectronics

AKG C12 VR! Great mic!

 C 12 VR

The AKG C 12 VR is an amazing mic. I first heard it at my boy Mark's studio in Santa Monica. Its a solid piece, beautiful design and has great character and presence. This mic is a replica of the old one from many years ago called the C12. It retains much of the similar traits of  the original. Now you know I am a Neumann mic and Blue Microphones guy but lets just say I will be adding this one to the mic collection. It will set you back some money though. Like the Neumann M149, its in the $5000 range so be ready to drop the funds if your are serious. Also consider pairing this mic or the Neumann with a really good mic pre amp! I will post some recommendations soon.  Here is the link to there site! AKG C12 VR

Mackie HR824 mk2 - SO I caved in a bought a pair of these

 Close-up image | Mackie HR824mk2

For years I was an Event monitor guy for a long time. I decided I wanted a new pair cause the ones I had did not give me a full image of the sound. Usually I would have too much base and not enough mid range. So, after fighting it for years, I bought these. Best investment I made!. these monitors are Rock solid! and with the reflex passive speak in the back it throws off enough bass to act almost like a sub woofer. It helps because it forces me to back off the low end! If you are looking for a new pair of monitors, definitely check these out! Here is the link.  Mackie HR 824 mk2

Neumann M 149 - Great mic for the price!

I had the pleasure of using this mic a few months back and I loved it. I have to say in every price group there is a favorite mic and in this group, this is my favorite! The Neumann M149 goes for about $5049.00. Thats alot of scratch but if you can get it, Get it!!! there is only one other mic in that price range i like and I will post it next week! The info is below and here is the link. Neumann

One of the best Magazines I have read in a while!

More often than not, you run accross music mags. that don't truly cover the information you really want to know. Music Tech does the opposite and then some. This magazine is designed to give you insight into your mixing process, new products, and free Plugins!!! And I don't mean sample plugins that are not good, full on copies of legit plugins. Sometimes you dont need the most expensive plugin to find the right sound. I love the fact that every once ina  while you run across a really great free plugin. You can only get the plugins if you buy the magazine but totally worth it!  They also give you great tips on how to fix your mixes! Check out the magazine. You wont be dissapointed! Music Tech
