One of the best Magazines I have read in a while!

More often than not, you run accross music mags. that don't truly cover the information you really want to know. Music Tech does the opposite and then some. This magazine is designed to give you insight into your mixing process, new products, and free Plugins!!! And I don't mean sample plugins that are not good, full on copies of legit plugins. Sometimes you dont need the most expensive plugin to find the right sound. I love the fact that every once ina  while you run across a really great free plugin. You can only get the plugins if you buy the magazine but totally worth it!  They also give you great tips on how to fix your mixes! Check out the magazine. You wont be dissapointed! Music Tech

This is one of my favorite mics. I picked this up a few years ago when it was about $600 and let it go a while back. . Now that Blue Microphones has made newer microphones in that price range they dropped it to $299. I had to pick one up to have in my Mic. Cabinet! Everyone should have a Mic Cabinet!!! Its a solid mic that performs all its tasks without any issues or distortion (unless you can't record then nothing will help you). If you are tigh on funds and need a solid mic for under $500 look at this unit. I promise you, you won't be dissapointed! Here is the companies link! Blue Microphones

The Studio can be totally portable now!

For years I have been waiting for Laptop technology to catch up to the Desktop. Now Intel has done just that! With the release of the Intel i7 Mobile chip, you now have 4 processors in your laptop to run everything. So far it has been released for PC but it wont be long before it will be out for MAC. I say by February at the latest! This step makes it easier to run heavy duty programs on your laptop and not worry about it. Usually If I want to work on something I run all the processor heavy software on the PC tower, iMac or the Mac Pro. This will give us that freedom to make a total copy of your home rig for portability. Here is the article and All my mac people, know that this chip is going in the MacBook Pros soon! LaptopMag

UAD-2 Solo Card Makes The Studio is Totally Portable!

I have been a huge fan of Universal Audio products ever since I purchased my first LA-610 Microphone preamp years ago. For me, the thing I love about there products is how accurately it re-produces that vintage feel and sound that we all crave. Its not that there are not other products out there that can do the job, just that this is the one I like. the UAD-2 Solo for the laptop is no exception on its quality. It moves all that hardware into a virtual device that can handle any Job you throw at it! Another great thing about this device is the fact that it has a built in processor. This allows the audio plugins to use it instead of your computers processor so you get more usage out of your CPU for critical DAW processing. Or, if your like me, you will use this and Waves Plugins at the same time! Here is the link to the website where you can find the Solo as well as all there other great products. Universal Audio

Ripping your CD's like a champ!

These days we are all looking for a way to archive our Cd's to a format where it does not sound like crap. Although iTunes does an ok job of this, if your like me when you are dealing with higher quality audio iTunes does not cut it. Here is an article I ran across talking about two programs, one for Windows: Exact Audio and Copy, and the other for Mac: Max, that do a great Job of converting your audio to MP3, Flac, or just about any other format that you prefer.  [DJ+Commish-14.JPG]

DJ Commish is one of the Biggest DJ's in NY! He and I came up together on the DJ scene! We argue all the time from those days on whether I taught him how to be a DJ or if he made me a better DJ, but one thing is for sure, I gave him his start and he never looked back! Now one of the best guys out there and a good friend he is still killing it back home in NY. He has traveled around the US doing parties in Phoenix, Miami, DC, ATL, etc.. I could go on! Keep checking his new Blog page for updates on his work! and his official website is listed below.

Cockos Reaper - An Affordable Option that Works With Almost anything!

Reaper is a DAW made by the company Cockos Incorporated. It is designed to work with nearly every audio interface (including Digidesign Pro Tools interfaces). This product is rock solid. It can run in Windows as well as Mac and the best part, it has no limit on track count or plugins per track! It works with VST, DXi, and AU Plugins (Mac OSX only). The software is small enough to be installed on a USB thumb drive so you can make your studio portable! The other great thing this company did is with the price. Reaper cost $225. However, If you are a Student, don't make much money off of music, or do music as a hobby, you can get Reaper for $60! They also give you 30-days to try it out and see if you like it. You cant beat that! For those who know me, you know I am a fan of having options. I primarily work in Logic 9 and Pro Tools 8 but as a back up, Reaper is a great option for travel, working on a plane, when you cant bring your audio interface, or just in general! Reaper

Pioneer CDJ-2000

Pioneer has been at the front of the CD Turntable business for a long time and this latest version of the CDJ line is no different. Not only can you play CDs and MP3's but they added a head up display that allows you to see the wave form in real-time or display song information like titles and duration. Its a good purchase for those who are not into computer based MP3 mixing and would rather just have the decks. The link is below if you want more information on this product. Who am I?

My name is Terence Anderson aka The Politician. I am award winning producer who has had the opportunity to work with some great producers, film composers and engineers.  I have been in the business since 1994 (professional DJ from 1994 to 2006, and Music Producer from 2005 to present). I have created this blog to post information on products I think most producers and DJ's will find beneficial for there production as well as place articles on audio production that I found helpful. I will also post about various other subjects from the Hottest car (from my perspective) to Astronomy and other topics. Feel free to enjoy my thoughts and leave comments!
